Open Enrollment Private Wealth Management
Course Overview
The four-day private wealth management courses that we design and deliver are rigorous programs incorporating lectures, case studies and small and large group discussion.
These private wealth management courses are designed for U.S. and international individuals and families who have built wealth in this generation, have inherited family wealth, or are contemplating or have recently experienced a liquidity event. Single-family office executives may attend with principal family members but the course is closed to all other financial services professionals. All course participants must apply for admission and those that are accepted must sign confidentiality and non-solicitation agreements.
Who has taken Wealth Strategist Partners’ recent Private Wealth Management courses? What are they concerned about?
Retirement and Generational Wealth Transfer
A husband and wife attended the course together. He is recently retired from the management of a family-owned international business that went public in the early 1990’s. Recently, they were in the process of reviewing the family’s wealth managers, and took the course because they wanted to learn more about all aspects of managing multigenerational wealth in a close family. Subsequently, their daughter and son-in-law have taken a private, customized wealth management course with WSP so that they can share ideas and make responsible decisions alongside their parents.
Family Business Portfolio Management
A father, daughter, and nephew from a large international family are involved in management of a diverse group of companies, which are the source of the family’s wealth (four other extended family members manage the family investment office). The family’s objective is to preserve and grow their wealth for future generations. The three family members came to the course seeking to learn more about how to manage their wealth, and how to communicate more effectively with their advisors and their family. Says the daughter, “It was great being in the course with my dad, because someone else always asked the awkward questions I had been thinking about. These were questions that I felt uncomfortable bringing up myself. But once a question was out in the open, Dad and I could talk about the issue.”
Sold a Family Business
The founder of a regional financial services business closed on the sale of his company. One week later, he attended the Private Wealth Management course with his wife and their son and daughter. Their objectives were to preserve the capital from the proceeds of the sale, to learn more about the opportunities and pitfalls of estate planning and to find new ways to help strengthen family bonds. They were also committed to starting a foundation focused on primary education, and to educating their own family members on how to deal with issues of their newly realized wealth.
Managing Entrepreneurial Success
The entrepreneurial founder of a new-media company attended the course to learn how to manage and grow his increasing wealth, and how to manage his advisors. He was also concerned about how best to raise his young children in affluence, and was worried about how to discuss his new wealth with his parents and siblings, who live in more modest circumstances.
Taking Individual Responsibility in a Large, Wealthy Family
Two sisters in their 50s, whose family has been wealthy for generations and still owns the large family business, took the Private Wealth Management course. They wanted to learn more about managing their wealth, estate planning and taxation, so that they could take a more informed, responsible, and pro-active role in their relationships with advisors.
